Film: We Planted 115 Trees (2011)

We Planted 115 Trees documents the story of the Friends of Brentwood Park group and its historic tree planting on November 6, 2010. The film features clips of interviews with FOBP Leadership Team members—including Kat Correa, Denman Glober, Karen Lorenzini, Hedrich Michaelsen, and Emily Wilson—and others who participated in the tree planting and dedication. (DVDs of the full interviews are housed at the Austin History Center.)

More than 60 volunteers, including four generations of the Bushacker family, participated in the event. Fifteen of the 115 trees were planted in the park in honor and in memory of special friends, neighbors, and family members.

By weaving together elements of past, present, and future, Friends of Brentwood Park and its ongoing projects are strengthening the fabric of the two neighborhoods. The group’s efforts are sustaining the longtime legacy of neighbors working together to enhance and maintain the park, established in the early 1950s.

Below is the film, with Tree Dedications as a separate video clip. (Read the narration from the dedication ceremony here.)
